Rovos Rail – The Pride of Africa

Since its establishment more than 10 years ago, Rovos Rail has earned an international reputation for its truly world-class travel experiences. Step aboard the wood-panelled coaches and enjoy fine cuisine in five-star luxury as some of the most varied scenery imaginable unfolds beyond the windows. Recapture the romance and atmosphere of a by-gone era, when privileged travellers experienced the magic and mystery of Africa in a relaxed and elegant fashion.

In a series of journeys lasting from 24 hours to a fortnight, the Pride of Africa links some of Africa's greatest destinations from Cape Town at the tip of Africa to Dar-Es-Salaam in Tanzania, from scenic splendours as diverse as the game reserves of Mpumalanga to the Victoria Falls, from the desert landscapes of Namibia and the stark beauty of the Karoo to the lush cane fields of KwaZulu-Natal and the magnificent Garden Route along the Cape South Coast.

The Blue Train

For over 50 years the Blue Train has been synonymous with unsurpassed luxury, offering the traveller a choice of journeys into a timeless world of grace, elegance and romance.

With interiors created by a leading design company, the Blue Train rivals many a five-star hotel.  The suites are superbly designed to offer guests the best that modern technology can offer and superior craftsmanship can provide. To ensure the ultimate in hospitality, each coach has a professionally trained butler on call to meet with any requirement.

The Blue Train travels on four return routes: Pretoria to Cape Town; Pretoria to Victoria Falls; Pretoria to Hoedspruit and Cape Town to Port Elizabeth.  Each journey is unique in that the areas feature such diverse scenery, from the rugged coastline of the south of South Africa to the grassy plains and dense bush as the train journeys deeper in the heart of Africa.

The Desert Express - Namibia

Namibia is renowned for its wide-open spaces and superb sunrises and sunsets, which the timetable has been designed to include. Uniquely shaped large windows throughout the train enmesh the traveller in the desert experience. The train will travel through the Namib Desert and finally behind the dunes between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, where it will stop for sixty minutes, to allow passengers to disembark and take a walk. The train has twenty-four compartments, each accommodating one, two or three passengers. The compartments are fully air conditioned and heated and have en-suite facilities as standard. Passengers have access to an elegant lounge, unique bistro bar and spacious restaurant that serves the best in Namibian cuisine.
